Peren District Inter-School Quiz and Debate Competition-cum-Award Ceremony was held at Baptist Higher Secondary School, Jalukie 'B' on July 10.
Jalukie, July 10 (MExN): The Peren District Inter-School Quiz and Debate Competition-cum-Award Ceremony was held at the Baptist Higher Secondary School auditorium in Jalukie 'B' on Friday under the theme "Digiverse."
Organised by Eleazer Trust in collaboration with Kendeu Coaching Centre, the programme brought together church leaders, representatives of the Zeliangrong Students' Union and Zeliang Students' Union, teachers, students and well-wishers from across the district.
Senior Surgeon at CIHSR, Dimapur, Dr Temsula Alinger attended the event as the chief guest. The programme was chaired by Hiareungambe Hingleu, while Benthuile Haihing led the invocation and Bible reading. Eleazer Trust Advisor C R John Zeliang delivered the welcome address.
In her keynote address, Dr Alinger described teaching as one of the noblest professions and encouraged students to pursue excellence by reflecting on Philippians 4:8 and John 14:6. Stressing the importance of integrity, she urged students to emulate the biblical figure Daniel by striving for excellence and leading principled lives.
The event also recognised outstanding students from Peren district for their academic achievements.
Seven schools from the Jalukie area participated in the quiz and debate competitions. Baptist Higher Secondary School, Jalukie 'B' won the quiz competition, while St Xavier Higher Secondary School finished as runners-up.
In the debate competition, Hangkiayibe Pame of Barail Valley Higher Secondary School secured first place, while Isirai Kamlak of St Xavier Higher Secondary School finished second.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and awards, recognising academic achievement and encouraging students to pursue excellence, integrity and wisdom.
