Students of Phek Government College undertook a field trip to Lozaphuhu Community Conserved Area on July 25.
Phek, July 26 (MExN): Students of Phek Government College (PGC) traded classrooms for the forest canopy of the Lozaphuhu Community Conserved Area (CCA) on July 25, in a field trip aimed at bridging environmental theory with real-world conservation.
The immersive excursion, organised by the Department of Environmental Sciences (EVS) in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Department of Botany, brought first-semester B.A. and B.Sc. students face-to-face with community-driven forest management.
EVS Head Vilhoutuonuo Theünuo guided the visit, while NSS Convenor Dr Zhokusheyi Rhakho briefed students on the history, governance, and daily stewardship of the CCA, highlighting the role of indigenous traditions and community vigilance in protecting fragile ecosystems.
The initiative was supervised by Assistant Professors Dr. Pfüchüpe-ü Mero, Dr. Neilhousano Nakhro, and Ronald Difoe.
