Phek, March 13 (MExN): World Kidney Day was observed at Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial hall, District Hospital Phek on March 13. It was observed under the theme ‘Are your kidneys ok? Detect early, protect kidney health’ with John Tsulise Sangtam NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Phek as the guest speaker.
A press release received here stated that coinciding with World Kidney Day, the Hemodialysis Center at DH Phek was officially launched by DC Phek John Tsulise in the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Superintendent of Police Phek, Col 39 Assam Rifle Phek, Officials from Directorate of H&FW Kohima and other dignitaries.
The Dialysis Center was inaugurated under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis programme (PMNDP) as part of National Health Mission (NHM) to provide free dialysis service to the poor with an aim to strengthen District Hospitals.
The DC Phek in his speech said that ‘Phek is fortunate to get this Center installed which can save economical problem of the people at large.’ “It is our responsibility to propagate the information to the community of the services available in the hospital,” he added.
Dr Tinenlo James Katiwa, Joint Director & SPO PMNDP in his keynote address highlighted the PMNDP programme on how it operates and its main objectives. He shared the risk factors that increase kidney disease, signs and symptoms and some important points to keep our kidney healthy.
Earlier, the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Chivo Medeo YD PTBC and a special number was given by Vetulu Veswu. The programme was chaired by Dr Ngopelo Keviechu SMO DH and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Along DH Phek.
