PM Shri GHS Meriema (Kohima) emerged the champion of the State level Pre-Subroto Tournament U-17 (Girls) 2026, which concluded at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on July 16.
In the final match, PM Shri GHS Meriema downed GHS Noklak village 5-0 to clinch the champion title Lhiivekholii opened the account for PM Shri GHS Meriema in the 8th minute, who later scored her second goal in the 10th minute.
Zemloi T. Konyak netted two consecutive goals for the team in the 28th and 42nd minute.
Kelethunii Vitso added another goal for the team in the 48th minute.
Mentionably, PM Shri GHS Meriema entered the final after defeating GMS Imrong (Mokokchung) 6-0 in the first semi finals on Wednesday.
GHS Noklak secured the final berth after overpowering GHSS Hakushang (Tuesang) 2-0 in the second semi finals. Thingpia L and Acham K netted a goal each for Noklak.
Earlier, K. Neibou Sekhose, president Nagaland Football Association (NFA), Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland and Jakedovo Chase, Joint Director, Department of Youth Resources & Sports handed over medals and trophy to the champion and runner- up team.
PM Shri GHS Meriema will now be representing Nagaland state at the upcoming 65th edition of Subroto Mukherjee International Football Tournament, scheduled for August l8 to September 25 at New Delhi.
The tournament, commenced on July 14, was organized by Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland in collaboration with NFA.
Meanwhile, the State level Pre-Subroto Tournament U-17 (Boys) 2026 will start from July 20 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
