The India Post Office in collaboration with Shishoi Oshom-ETF, Cell Wokha organised a Special Registration Drive for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana on March 8 at India Post Office, Wokha with an aim to promote access to free electricity for households in Wokha.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a government scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2024, seeks to provide free electricity to households across India. Under this scheme, households are eligible to receive a subsidy for the installation of solar panels on their rooftops, covering up to 40% of the installation cost. It is estimated that the scheme will benefit approximately 1 crore households nationwide and result in significant annual savings of Rs 75,000 crore in electricity costs.

A total of 179 beneficiaries participated at the registration drive to avail the benefits of this scheme.
