Kohima, September 23 (DIPR): A nationwide special campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi), titled Lok Kalyan Mela, was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with Chiephobozou Town Council at the Town Council Hall, Chiephobozou, on September 23.
Delivering the keynote address, ADC and EO, Chiephobozou, Vekusheyi Rhakho, said the PM SVANidhi scheme, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, on June 1, 2020, seeks to support street vendors in accessing formal credit, expanding their businesses, adopting digital payments and accessing various welfare schemes.
He said the Lok Kalyan Mela aims to bring government services closer to people and ensure eligible citizens can access schemes meant for them. The campaign brings the District Administration, Urban Local Body, banks, government departments and beneficiaries onto a common platform to facilitate applications, resolve pending issues and provide guidance.
Rhakho encouraged eligible street vendors to avail themselves of the opportunity and stressed timely repayment and responsible use of government support. He said the administration, Town Council, financial institutions and line departments were committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are not left out.
Resource persons Thejasenuo Agnes of the Department of Urban Development Agency, Sentibenla, Branch Manager, Chiephobozou Rural Bank, and Janet Thaprü, Functional Manager, SDIC, Chiephobozou, highlighted the campaign, Lok Kalyan Mela and other welfare schemes.
The programme was chaired by EAC Chiephobozou Viketoulie Metha, while CTC Chairperson Khrielelie Kerhuo proposed the vote of thanks. Street vendors, business establishments, government officials, CTC members and bank representatives attended the programme.
