PMKVY 4.0 skill training prog launched for police personnel

Kohima, March 18 (MExN: A short-term skill training programme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, aimed at enhancing vocational skills among police personnel and their families was launched at PBC 4th NAP Bn. Multipurpose Hall, Thizama on March 18.

The programme covers multiple units, including 1st NAP Chümoukedima, DEF Kohima, 4th NAP Thizama, 5th NAP Phek, and DEF Mokokchung.

The formal launch and keynote address were delivered by Rupin Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police, Nagaland, who emphasized the importance of skill development in modern policing and career growth.

Z. James Sema, NPS, Deputy Commandant of the 4th NAP Battalion, presided over the programme as chairperson.

The programme commence with an invocation by Vimekho Sophie, Associate Pastor PBC 4th NAP, followed by a welcome address from Commandant Vizhoto Hibo, NPS.

A detailed briefing on PMKVY 4.0 was delivered by Pravin Yadav, State Nodal Officer, representing the National Skill Development Corporation under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

As part of the initiative, a two-month training programme on mushroom cultivation will be conducted for 117 trainees, primarily aimed at supporting the families of police personnel. Additionally, 33 police personnel will undergo specialized drone training. The broader initiative will include training across multiple trades, to be conducted at five different locations for both police personnel and their families.
