Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): The results of the 5th Pre-State Nagaland Shooting Championship 2026 in small bore rifle and pistol events were declared following the conclusion of the four-day competition held from June 16 to 19.
The championship was organised by the Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy, Khelo India Centre, Dimapur, and conducted by the Nagaland Rifle Association. The event was held at the Aries Sports Complex Shooting Ranges, Bamunpukhuri-I, and the Ladybird School Shooting Academy, Khelo India Centre, Mokokchung.
A total of 80 shooters, including 15 women and 65 men, participated across 36 categories covering 10m Air Rifle, 10m Air Pistol, 25m Standard Pistol, .32 Centre Fire Pistol, and 50m Rifle events.
In the 10m Air Rifle Men category, Japuto Y. Zhimo secured first place with a score of 374, while Thejase Lhou Liezietsu and Vikuovolie Keyho finished second and third respectively. In the junior men’s category, Merentsungba topped with 381, followed by Mejungsangba and Longchatemsu.
Among women, Khrieketounuo Belho won the 10m Air Rifle Women category with 355 points. In the 10m Air Rifle Sub Youth Women category, Imdangjungla Lemtur secured first position with 369.
In pistol events, Kimatsung Jamir won the 10m Air Pistol Men category with 329, while Khrieketounuo Belho also topped the 10m Air Pistol Women category with 347. In the junior women’s 10m Air Pistol category, Kevikie-U secured first position with 301.
In the 50m rifle prone events, Kimatsung Jamir won the ISSF men’s category with 184, while Japuto Y. Zhimo also topped the 50m prone men’s category with 175. In the standard pistol and centre fire events, Metekhrielie Mejura, Lanu Rongsenkaba Jamir, and others featured among the top performers across master and senior divisions.
Organisers said the championship saw participation across sub-youth, youth, junior, senior, and master categories, reflecting growing participation in shooting sports across Nagaland.
