A protection wall collapsed on the evening of March 25 along the Zunheboto District Court road, adjacent to Paramount Gas Agency. According to a source, the collapse was allegedly due to poor workmanship, with the structure reportedly lacking proper beams and support posts.
Hikavi H. Kinimi, an advocate at the District Court Zunheboto, expressed serious concern over the incident, stating that the road serves as a vital lifeline not only for advocates but also for the general public who rely on it to access court services.
He appealed to the contractor to reconstruct the wall in accordance with the specifications outlined in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to restore the damaged structure.
“Since I am not from a technical background, I cannot confirm whether the collapse was caused by soil erosion, natural factors, or poor workmanship,” Kinimi stated. “However, if there are any defects in the construction, I appeal to the concerned authorities to promptly verify and address them to prevent recurrence.”
He further stated that as the Road project is still ongoing, authorities should ensure that all work is completed as per standard specifications. He also urged that no completion certificate be issued until the construction fully meets the required standards.
Reiterating the importance of the road, Kinimi said that the collapse poses a significant safety risk to both legal professionals and the general public. He called on the authorities to take swift action to restore the road within a few days.
