Peren, August 17 (DIPR): The final round of the first District Level High School Quiz Competition 2011 organised by the ‘Reach Out’ Club Peren was held on August 12 at Peren Town Council Hall. The grand finale was graced by Benjamin Newmai, Secretary Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs, Nagaland, as the chief guest and Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Khrienuo C. Metha as the guest of honour.
Addressing the participants the chief guest said that it is the test of one’s general knowledge, which is necessary to face this competitive world. He also expressed his appreciation to Robert Chetri Chief Convenor Reach Out, SP Peren Advisor Reach Out and other members of the Reach Out Club for their selfless contribution towards the society.
Altogether, six teams representing six Schools, namely: 1) Zeliangrong Heraka School, Tening, 2) All Saints Higher Secondary School, Peren, 3) Barial valley School, Jalukie, 4) St. Zavier’s Higher Secondary School, Samzuiram and Sainik School, Punglo, competed in the final round whereby St. Xavier’s School lifted the Champion Trophy.
While Zeliangrong Heraka School and Sainik School were adjudged 1st Runner – up and 2nd Runner – up respectively. Other highlights of the programme included welcome address by Chukie Ndang – Treasurer Reach Out, invocation prayer by Haiku, Pastor PTBC, vote of thanks by Kengimpeudi. The Quiz Master in the final round was Albert – Director, ‘Reach Out’ who also gave a brief introduction of the ‘Reach Out’. The programme was presided over by Haizielu - Convenor, Reach Out.
