Rahul Gandhi says corruption should be fought through political system

Shillong, September 21 (NNN): AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the way to root out corruption and usher development can only be achieved through the existing political system of the country.
Rahul Gandhi who was in Ampati area of West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya on Wednesday for the Indian National Youth Congress told the gathering of Congress workers, “If we wanted to develop our country and to reduce corruption, we can always go through the political system in place to do just that”.
 Although equivocal in his attack against a group that has been vociferous on the issue of corruption, Gandhi said, “We have a system that makes the people voice loud and clear and it is through this strong voice that we can remove corruption and take our country ahead”.
In course of his address, the AICC general secretary also spoke about the traditional values which people tend to forget in the world of modernity.
“Cell phones ,computers and other modern initiatives have take our country ahead but there are some that disrespect the traditional values of our country”, stated Gandhi while averring to the North east traditional values in particular.
"There is a lot to learn from the traditional values of the Northeast  that can liven up with our objectives to be at par with others in the 21st century”, stated the Congress party youth icon.
In his address where he tried to convince the youths to be part of the youth congress, Gandhi also stated that the Congress party desires to see the people of the region to be part of central politics.
"Yours is a small state but each one of you can teach and contribute a lot in running the day to day affairs of the country," he said.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma during his brief speech spoke about the youth development programme initiated by his government. Showering praises on the support extended by the UPA government on the initiatives undertaken in the past one year, Sangma said, ”Our intention to involve the youths is to bring about a paradigm shift in the developmental works".
