Maligaon, October 6 (MExN): The RailOne App has introduced a Shareable UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) Season Ticket facility, enabling registered users to book season tickets for themselves as well as eligible family members or other passengers.
Introduced from September 2, the facility allows a user to book one season ticket for self and up to five additional passengers, subject to applicable rules.
A user must be at least 18 years old to book a ticket for self, while passengers booked by another user must be at least five years old.
The self-booked ticket becomes valid on the same day after geo-fencing verification, while tickets booked for other passengers become valid from the following day.
As per the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the shareable ticket carries the passenger's photograph and a QR code for identity verification. Passengers can carry either a clear printed copy or the PDF version on a mobile device.
Booking receipts, invoices and UTS paper-ticket copies are not valid travel documents.
The NFR further informed that its ticket-checking staff have been sensitised to the new verification process and advised to use updated Hand-Held Terminal applications supporting QR-code scanning.
It also advised passengers to ensure that the ticket and QR code remain clear and readable during the validity period.
