Maligaon, August 23 (MExN): The railway staffs of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have been performing their duties day and night even during the unprecedented situation of Covid-19 pandemic, an official release said.
The railway duty of the station masters, loco-pilots, guards, ticket-checking staff and commercial clerk revolved around train operation, press release from NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Guneet Kaur informed.
Loco-pilots of the passenger carrying trains carried thousands of passengers safely while Railway Protection Force (RPF) contributed by remaining in the forefront apart from providing security of passengers, it said. Medical workers provide health care services to the society putting their own lives at risk, it added.
P-Way staffs were also enngaged for carrying out regular maintenance and improvement works to enhance safety of train operations, the release said, adding that tracks are maintained and inspected on 24x7 to ensure that every section is fit for train operations. Due to sustained effort of P-Way staffs, NFR could carry out 121.42 tonne-kilometre (TKm) Through Rail Renewal works from January to July, 2021 and achieve ever highest progress in July at 42.14 TKm, it further informed. The average speed of goods carrying trains in NFR increased by 34.2% from 34.2 Kmph in January – July previous year to 46 Kmph, it added.
