Taxi driver assaulted by cop

A local taxi driver was reported to be assaulted by police personnel in inebriated state at BOC here this evening. All Nagaland Taxi Association, Kohima Unit president informed that, the police personnel working at Wireless Department identified as Khriesaneituo Zumu, 48 years from Touphema village, in his police uniform at first physically assaulted the local taxi driver without any reason and returned for the second time after changing his uniform, however OC intervened and took the accused at south police station.
The wife of the accused who happened to be at the site apologized for her husband’s misdeeds where later the union forgave but his return for the second time made the union more suspicious of his character. He also disclosed that the accused threatened the taxi driver in front of OC.
The Association while denouncing the act also demanded for proper inquiry as the accused character is said to be very doubtful. The accused is kept at lock up, south police station till the time of filing this story.

Two arrested

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN):
The 24 Assam Rifles while conducting Motor Vehicle Check Post at general area, Purana Bazar, Dimapur on September 1 at 3:30pm intercepted one Maruti van vehicle bearing registration no NL-07C-2475 carrying a total of 300 bottles of assorted contraband IMFL and beer.
A press release received here informed that in this connection, two persons were arrested identified as Raju Chauhary (27) s/o Teja Ram Chaudhary, r/o Tilokpura Village Aligarh p/s district Sikar Rajasthan and Majbur Ali (26) s/o Rajan Ali resident of a village Behali district-Sunitpur, Assam. They were handed over to the office of Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur with the seized articles for further investigation. Basing on the report of the investigation officer, the accused persons were penalized as per the relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989 and the contraband items confiscated and deposited in the excise malkhana.
