
Heavy rain affects 150 farmers
Longleng, September 7 (MExN): In view of the torrential rain since few days back a vast area of ready to harvest paddy field were destroyed at Hukpang village affecting about 150 farmers. The assessment of losses is under Process but estimated to be in terms of few lakhs. Also, many plantations were also destroyed. One house was completely destroyed and 13 other house were partially damaged due to land slides in Longleng Town. Again paddy field ready to harvest were also damaged at Nian and Yongam village where assessment of losses and numbers of affected farmers are underway. This was informed in a press release issued by DC Longleng.
Citizens flay abduction of school child
Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): A forum, Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum, today condemned the abduction of Ankush Jha, a 9 year old class-4 student of Hollotoli School in Dimapur on September 3 by unidentified persons. The forum expressed shock that even school children have now become the target of money mongers and criminals. A note from the forums received here expressed condemnation for such crimes now taking place in Dimapur regularly. The forum appealed to the abductors to release the child safely.
DNSU flays abduction of School student
Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) has condemned the September 3 abduction of nine year old Ankhush Jha, by unidentified local youth near a shopping mall at Circular road, Dimapur. A condemnation note issued by Solomon L. Awomi, tribunal general, DNSU stated that even though the boy was released unharmed and no ransom money was paid to the kidnappers so far, the students union wants to see the kidnappers arrested at any cost . DNSU strongly appeals to the District Administration and Police to nab the culprits at the earliest. To instill a sense of safety and confidence among citizens, DNSU appeals to all the denizens, businessman and peoples organization to cooperate with district administration and police for all round development. DNSU further stated that it will carry out its own course of action if compelled by the situation for the interest of student community, and public in general.
NSF demands actions against abductors
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 6 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) while strongly condemning the ‘kidnap for ransom’ of a school boy of class 4 on 3rd September 2011 at Dimapur has demanded for timely arrest of the abductors and urged the law enforcing agencies to take urgent and radical steps to secure the lives of our citizen and also to eliminate such habitual heinous crime from Naga society. The Federation stated that anti social elements have started targeting even the innocent school-going children to slake their greed for money and further call upon all right thinking Nagas not to tolerate such disgraceful act perpetrated on the students’ community”. This was stated in a press note issued by Chipakhoi Rhakho Secretary Education and Tongbang Ozukum Assistant General Secretary NSF.
Sechü Zubza VC fetes State awardee
Dimapur, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The Sechü Zubza Village Council has feted Sovino for receiving the State award 2011 on the occasion of Teachers’ Day at Kohima. Stating that Sovino has been serving in Christian Mission School Sechü, for more than 25 years (for which she was awarded), the village council, while lauding her efforts for her invaluable contribution to the village and the school in particular, has also prayed that the Almighty grant her good health for which she may continue rendering her service even in the future. Meanwhile, the SZVC has also congratulated Thinoneisie Lhousa for being promoted to Junior Education Officer (Class 2 Gazette). Joining him in sharing the happiness, the release issued by the Village Council Chairman, Neikuo Sechü, has also wished him a bright future in his endeavour.
