
Pangti village takes in elephant herd
Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): A village in Wokha, Pangti village today said it has taken into its charge a herd of elephants that had entered the village’s forests since October 2001. Pangti Village Council has issued a noticed today declaring the elephants as asset and has taken a decision prohibiting poaching. According to the council, the elephants numbering 17-20 entered Pangti areas during the first week of October 2001. Since then the herd has grown to 80 and the pachyderm have now ‘chosen to settle permanently.’ The villagers “have been providing uncultivated forest area” approximating 5, 500 acres as the animals’ habitat, the council said. “The village council in its meeting had resolved ad declared the entire herd of elephants as an asset to the villagers. Accordingly resolved to notify to all individuals, group, organizations that all means of poaching now stand prohibited. Therefore, anyone found violating the resolution shall be dealt with serious consequences,” the village council added it its notice.
Ban on taxation
Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The NNC (non-accordist)has informed the businessmen/establishments in Dimapur that the ban on taxation of any kind is still in force. A press note issued by UT I chairman H P Chopy stated that despite the ban, there are reports that some miscreants in the name of NNC (non-accordist) are carrying out taxation applying different “modus operandi to tarnish our image”. “…a strong warning is issued to all such persons found indulging in anti-social and anti-NNC (non-accordist) that they will be dealt with according to national yezhabo. No one will be spared if found acting contrary to the principles of NNC,” it warned. The businessmen and business houses in Dimapur has been directed to first contact UT I chairman, H. P. Chophy over the phone (9856802152/9774006472) before dealing with any persons in regard to taxation. “Businessmen paying tax of any kind without prior confirmation with the above mentioned authority will be doing so at their own risk.”
NCC supports Yimchungru Region
Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The NNC Central has extended full support to the Yimchungru Region's decision of terminating K Thraneanba from NNC National Service for his “anti-Region activity” as well as committing blunders in the region. “The Region has taken the right decision at the right time because this fellow (K.Thraneanba) is all the time creating big problem in the Region as well as accusing the NNC leaders without any basis all the time. This is the right time to kick out the anti-NNC and anti-Region fellow by the Region absolute majority,” informed a press note issued by V Kiso on behalf of Information & Publicity Wing, Naga National Council. The NNC in the note also stated: “…K.Thraneanba Yimchungru is the one who created division first on 2nd Feb. 2011 Central Executive Council Meeting. He is the main person who brought the agendum of Eastern people and Western people NNC division for the first time in the history of NNC.”
