Entrepreneurs meet venue changed

Kohima, August 9 (MExN):
The venue and time for the meeting of the selected entrepreneurs from Kohima district under the Year of Entrepreneur on August 10 has been changed to Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima at 1:00 pm.

Consultation meet on ICPS today

Kohima, August 9 (MExN):
The State Child Protection Society, Nagaland is organizing a special state level consultation meet of Integrated Child Protection Scheme functionaries in Nagaland on August 10 at Conclave Conference hall, LCS Building Kohima. The inaugural function will start from 10:00 am onwards. Brief introduction of ICPS programme will be made by Anirudha Kulkarni, Child Protection specialist, UNICEF, Indian Country while keynote address will be delivered by Norman Putsure, chairman SCPS-N and secretary Social Welfare, Nagaland.

KSUD informs on silent procession

Dimapur, August 9 (MExN):
The Konyak Students' Union Dimapur (KSUD) has directed its student members above class-XI to compulsory attend the silence procession on August 10  organized by ENPUD against the murder of Seopi Samgtam. The students are to reach the venue by 8:30 am. The procession will set in motion from the venue Super Market till D.C Office. It has also requested all the college authorities to grant one day leave to all the Konyak students to participate in the procession.
It has also condemned  the heinous criminal act of the assailant and has requested the law enforcement agency to nab the culprit and give capital punishment. Moreover, it has conveyed its heartfelt commiseration to the bereaved family.

NPF unit welcomes new members

Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): A unit of the Naga People’s Front, Seyochung 59 assembly constituency of Kiphire informed of “13 household” from ‘various political parties of Sanphure village’ into the party’s fold.  A note from the unit said the ‘households’ joined ‘to support C Kipili Sangtam in the coming general election.’  Another note from the NPF’s Longmatra unit also welcomed newly enrolled members of new Longmatra village and “appreciated the decision taken by village council, GBs, party workers and general public.’ They have resolved to support C Kipili Sangtam in the coming general elections, the note form the Longmatra unit stated.

FGN mourns demise of member

Dimapur, August 9 (MExN):
The FGN (Metha) mourns the demise of a member Yevecho Nienu, “CCM”, NNC and extends condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
A condolence message from Gen. (Retd.) Viyalie Metha expressed deep grief and shock at the demise of Nienu on 7th August, 2011 at his village Khomi, in “Chakhesang region”.
“Late Yevecho Nienu was one of the senior most national workers. He was a true patriot. He served the nation with faith and integrity and worked in various capacities in the national service. His demise is a great loss and irreparable for the nation and community,” stated the message.
The FGN prays for peace of the deceased’s soul and that God would provide peace and prosperity to the bereaved family members and relatives.

One arrested

Dimapur, August 9 (MExN):
The Dimapur Police personnel on duty at Padum Pukhuri area on August 8 at around 1:30 pm were informed of some unidentified miscreants collecting money in the name of a UG faction. In response to the information, the police kept a close surveillance of the area.
Accordingly, one person namely Michael Chophy (SS Office Asst1 (SS OA2) of NSCN (IM) s/o Ihoshe Chophy, V/o Lizuto, P.o/P.s Aghunato, Zunheboto, P/Add 3rd Mile Dimapur was caught red handed while extorting money from truck drivers in the name of the NSCN (IM) faction, informed a pres note appended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur in a press note. 
The note also stated that the accused by apprehended and a case was registered. The police also recovered cash amounting to Rs 2305, one demand slip of NSCN (IM) and motor cycle bearing registration number NL05-7804.

Police seize dead chickens for sale in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): A month after the police arrested two persons transporting dead pig carcass to Dimapur on a truck, another poultry dealer was apprehended at New Field check gate carrying dead chicken today around 11:45 am. The trader was carrying 35 number of dead chicken on his bicycle to sell at an evening market here in Dimapur.  According to policemen at the check gate, the man was carrying the chicken meant to be sold at Signal Bazaar commonly known as ‘shaam bazaar’. The man claimed that the chickens were ‘hallal meat,’ but the police said that foul smell was emanating from the bags indicating that the meat was stale. The man was handed over to West police station. 
Veterinary test later confirmed that the chicken was dead before being slaughtered (hallal). The tests also confirmed the cause of death as cardiac arrest. No disease was detected. The accused is 20 year old Abdul Shahid of Signal Angami. The accused is said to have purchased the dead croiler chicken from Lahorijan, Karbi Anglong, Assam. The accused is in police custody.
