
Padum Pukhuri Village Council clarifies
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): A clarification has been issued in connection to the news report where one SS Sectional Officer of NNC identified as Ketoho Achumi, 24 years, s/o Tovihe Achumi from Yezashi Village, Zunheboto was arrested in connection with extortion of money from shops claimed to be a resient of Padum Pukhuri, Dimapur. The Padum Pukhuri Village Council, chairman Vitoka Katty in a press release has clarified after verifying that there is no such person as mentioned is a resident of Padum Pukhuri Village, Dimapur.
Janmashtami celebrated
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Leo club of Dimapur youth wings of Lions club of Dimapur celebrated Janmashtami day under the Chairmanship of Leo Surendra Singh Rathore. A ‘matki phod’ Competition was played between the Leos and the Lions, and a Fancy Dress competition for the Children between two age groups ranging from 6 years and 6-10 years, there was also a ‘matki phod’ Competition for public in which Nepali Basti Group won the Cash Prize Of Rs.1100, informed a press note issued by the P.R.O. Leo Club of Dimapur.
Photo drive at Peren for EPIC
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): As directed by Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, a special drive to maximize photo coverage for preparation of Photo Electoral Roll and Electoral Photo Identity Card for Peren district, the Designated Photography Location (DPL) has been set up at the office of the DEO, Peren with effect from August 23 to 30, 2011. A press note issued by Olivi Thurr, assistant election officer, Peren stated that all left out registered electors of 6-Tening and 7-Peren A/C’s, who missed out during 2st and 2nd phase of photo operation/201 has been directed to approach DPL during office hours for the same. The note also stated that form DO1A will also be made available for out-stationed registered voters and to submit two recent color passport sizes with duly filled form.

Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Nagaland State Social Welfare Board Kohima is organizing a one day workshop on “Promotion of women entrepreneurs” on August 30 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima. Norman Putsure, IAS, secretary department of social welfare and team, leader Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency will grace the workshop as the chief guest. The workshop will be chaired by Atoli Veyie, vice chairperson, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board, Kohima.

CAN discusses welfare of Catholic community
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) general meeting of all gazetted officers, politicians, entrepreneurs, tribal catholic union leaders, laity leaders and NGOs was held on August 27 at Don Bosco School Auditorium, Kohima. The meeting with the theme ‘Sharing Concerns’ discussed on various agenda on welfare and on policies for Catholic community of Nagaland.
The meeting was chaired by CAN President, Nosazol Charles, who also gave the keynote address. R. Rocus Chasie the 1st CAN President made the invocation prayer and a special song was presented by Victor Yhome and friends. Elias T. Lotha moderated over the discussions on 'Sharing Concerns' while Ms Rosemary Dzüvichü moderated over the session 'Where do we go from here. John Tsulise, ADC Aboi, P. Lucas Meyase, Jt. Director Directorate of School Education and Thomas Kent, Jt. Director Tourism moderated the sessions. Seyiekhrielie and friend presented a duet while S. Matthew Sangtam delivered the vote of thanks and R. Sebastian Humtsoe the 1st general secretary CAN said the concluding prayer.
The Catholic Association of Nagaland was formed on May 15, 1983 and has its Tribal Unions as its constituent Units which in turn have their regional Unions and further to the Village Catholic Unions. The CAN got affiliated to the All India Catholic Union (AICU) on 26/02/2011 and by which the President and Secretary General of CAN are now members to the Working Committee of AICU. Hence, CAN is now the mandated official Lay Organisation that represents the Catholic Community in Nagaland.

Biannual meet of Tolic Dmr conducted
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The second biannual meeting of Dimapur Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) was held at ARTC & S, Dimapur under the Chairmanship of Colonel AK Malik, SO-1 (Engineer) of ARTC & S on August 26. The meeting was attended by 21 members of Central Government offices situated in Dimapur. Ashok Kumar Mishra, Assistant Director (Implementation) of Official Language Regional Implementation Office, Guwahati was also present on the occasion as a representative of Govt of India, Official Language Department. Representatives from TOLIC member offices presented inputs on progressive use of the official language in their respective offices.
During the meet Colonel AK Malik stressed on the importance of progressive use of Hindi and exhorted all members to implement the policies and instructions on publicity and promotion of the official language. He emphasized on the importance of Hindi typing training of staff on computers and advised members to organise various Hindi competitions in their offices on the occasion of “Hindi Day and Hindi Fortnight celebration” during September 2011.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar Mishra, Assistant Director (Implementation) Official Language, stressed on the training of the non-Hindi staff under Hindi teaching scheme so as to make them efficient to work in Hindi. He applauded the efforts of the members of TOLIC Dimapur for wide publicity of the official language. Meeting concluded with keeping the promises to attain the objectives of promotion of the official language and witness the developments in the next meeting scheduled in January 2012.

DDCF declares support to FNR
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has expressed strong appreciation to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) for the ceaseless effort in bringing the top leaders of the Naga political groups. A press note issued by I.Temjen Jamir, general secretary, stated that the DDCF also appreciates the leaders of NSCN/GPRN, GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN for coming together and signing a declaration on August 22, 2011 in a “spirit of love, respect and understanding to “strengthen and broaden the peace process based on the uniqueness of Naga history”. The DDCF declares that it is in full support of the FNR in its endeavor for Naga reconciliation. DDCF further requests the FNR to pave ways for other Naga political groups also to join the process of reconciliation that the FNR is working for. Meanwhile, in a separate press note DDCF also expressed pain at the rape and murder of late Avinuo of Kirha village on July 21, 2011. The forum stated that such inhumane act(s) should be checked and condemned by every citizen and the culprit booked under non bailable provision(s). The DDCF strongly support the decision of the Chakhroma Women Organization for a silent procession on August 26, 2011.
