Release back-log before March 15, says ANSTGA

Dimapur, February 16 (MExN): The office bearers of the All Nagaland Small Tea Growers Association (ANSTGA) held a meeting at its head office, Darogapathar 2 1/2 mile on February 15, 2011. The meeting was presided by its advisor Shami Angh. The meeting discussed at length matters relating to non-release of back-log subsidies till date.
 A press note submitted by I. Imli Yaden, general secretary, ANSTGA informed that during the meeting, the president of the association D. Hujiye Kibami disclosed that a delegation of the Association had met the Governor of Nagaland, Nikhil Kumar on May 11, 2010 and submitted a representation relating to the back-log of Ninth & Tenth-Five year plan. “His Excellency was kind enough to have a patient hearing of the various grievances of the tea growers and personally took the initiative by having a telephonic enquiry to Rakesh Saini, executive director, Tea Board, Guwahati as well as forwarding a letter to the then Chairman, Tea Board of India. Basudeb Bannerjee for early release of the back-log,” stated the note.
ANSTGA also stated that despite the initiative taken by his Excellency, till date there has been no positive response from the Tea Board for release of back-log. The meeting further resolved that the associations would organize a hunger strike, if the Tea Board fails to release the back-log on or before March 15, 2011.
