Republic Day awards presented in Kohima

Kohima, January 26 (MExN): During the 76th Republic Day celebration at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima, Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan presented various awards to distinguished individuals for their exemplary service and contributions.

The President's Medal for Distinguished Service (Police) was conferred upon Imtiakum Pongen, Assistant Commandant. Additionally, Rupin Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police, Nagaland, and T. Tsenpemo Kikon, NPS, Assistant Commandant of the 15th NAP (IR) Battalion, received the President's Medal for Distinguished Service for awards announced in 2024 and 2023, respectively.

For their outstanding service, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service was awarded to Shouka Kakheto, Deputy Commandant; Zasilie Angami, Sub-Inspector; and Metseirovi Sakhrie, Naik. Those recognized with the same medal from prior announcements include Sonia Singh, IPS, IGP (Vigilance); T. Y. Ngullie, NPS, Commandant of the 11th (IR) Battalion; Peter Shuya, SDPO Meluri, DEF Phek; Toshimongba Imchen, ABSI, 9th NAP (IR) Battalion; and Archer Phyobemo, ABSI, INT. Estt.

The Governor’s Gold Medal, honoring exceptional contributions, was presented to Suman Shivashankar Sivachar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Wokha; Tsutsowe Kupa, NCS, Under Secretary, State Election Commission; and Lanuchuba Longchar, NPS, Assistant Commandant of the 12th NAP (IR) Battalion.

The Governor's Gold Medal was also awarded to several individuals announced on the occasion of the Republic Day 2025 celebration. The recipients included Dr. Hentok Phom, Joint Director and Nodal Officer, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland House, New Delhi; Dr. Vezokholu Theyo, Joint Director, Department of Health & Family Welfare; and Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Deputy Director, Department of School Education. Other awardees included Takatemjen Pongen, NCS, EAC (HQ), Kiphire; P. K. Wangpa Konyak, Assistant Commandant (VG), Mon; Akoba T. Sangtam, ABSI, 3rd NAP Battalion; Siezo Zumu, ASI, INT Estt.; and Thungchanbemo Lotha, Technical Supervisor, Department of Information & Public Relations.

Further honorees were Tsanthungo Lotha, Head Warden, District Jail, Wokha; Y. Isawoto Jimo, Head GB, Nikhekhu village, Niuland district; Krishna Mandal, Sectional Assistant, Nazarat Branch, Home Branch; and Y. Pongba Konyak from Burma Camp, Dimapur, for an act of bravery.
