Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): The Research Committee of Patkai Christian College conducted one day orientation programme on Research Methodology for all faculty and 5th semester honours students on August 20, 2011. The programme was conducted by the convenor Dr.R.K.Behera.
The welcome address was given by advisor Rev (Dr.) Tuisem A.Shishak where he stresses the importance of research in academic excellence. He said research comprises defining and redefining problems, formulating hypothesis or suggested solutions; collecting, organising and evaluating data; making deductions and reaching conclusions; and at last carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the formulating hypothesis. Prof. A. Lanunungsang, Dean, school of Social Sciences and Dr. Ketilezo Kikhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Nagaland University were two resource people for this programme. Both of them were sharing on Art of Report Writing /thesis, Development of research tools and techniques of data collection, Data Processing, tabulation, interpretation and analysis, Ph. D. Programs in University, Fundamental of social science research, types, nature of methods of social science research. Prof. A. Lanunungsang shared about the new UGC guidelines for appointment of lecturer. At the end there was an open discussion, where the faculty and students clarified their doubts with Prof. A. Lanunungsang and Dr. Ketilezo Kikhi.
