Mon, January 14 (MExN): MLA and Advisor, Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak, on January 14 graced the inauguration of the office building of the District Programme Officer (ICDS) and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) as the special guest at the Social Welfare Office Complex, Mon.

Addressing the gathering, the Advisor said the Social Welfare staff of Mon was fortunate to have their own office building, unlike in some other districts. He encouraged officials and staff to discharge their duties with sincerity and urged them to make the best use of the gadgets provided by the government to improve efficiency. He also congratulated Executive Engineer, Social Welfare, Er Talisunup Jamir, and his team for completing the construction within the stipulated time period of 18 months.

Secretary, Social Welfare, Limawabang Jamir, IAS, in his brief address congratulated the Mon district Social Welfare office staff for being among the best performing districts in the state and commended the hard work of Anganwadi workers and helpers. He also encouraged people to enroll for Aadhaar to avail benefits under various government schemes, noting that most schemes use Aadhaar as an identity proof.

Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS, described the occasion as a proud moment for the district and thanked the government led by the Chief Minister. He encouraged the officials and staff to continue their good work and strive for excellence, and assured full cooperation from the district administration in working for the welfare of the people.

Presenting the technical report, Executive Engineer, Social Welfare, Er Talisunup Jamir, said the total project cost for the construction of the Social Welfare Complex, including the District Programme Officer and CDPO office building along with the retaining wall, security wall and CC compound pavement, was Rs 2,98,96,000.

The programme was chaired by Director, Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi. Rev Yeangphong Konyak, District Chaplain, pronounced the dedicatory prayer. The welcome address was delivered by District Welfare Officer (DWO), Mon, Atong Yanlem. A special number was presented by Anganwadi workers of the Mon Project, while the vote of thanks was proposed by H Laitak Konyak, CDPO, Mon.
