Rio mourns demise of IAS officer & Tenyiphe village chairman

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio mourns the demise of Secretary to the Government of Nagaland N Hangsing, IAS, who passed away on August 20 in Guwahati.  The CM said Hangsing dedicated his best years of lift to the service of the government and made “many sacrifices” during his distinguished career. In the condolence message, a copy of which was received here, Rio said Hangsing joined Nagaland Civil Service as a Circle Officer of Panso and served with utmost sincerity in various capacities in places such as Tzit, Aboi, Noksen, Mon, Tenning and Shamator.
He was also the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire and Phek districts before his promotion to rank of secretary to the government and later his induction in the Indian Administrative Service in 2011.
“Late Mr. N Hangsing was an honest, upright and diligent officer first as a member of the Nagaland Civil Service and then as an Indian administrative officer and will be remembered and missed by officers of both fraternities,” the chief minister said.   The officer’s demise is a great loss to the family, his community and the state, the chief minister said.
“On this sad occasion, my wife joins me in deep sympathy as I convey our condolences to the members of the bereaved family. My God’s compassion and grace cover them in order to face this irreparable loss. May the soul of the departed rest in peace,” the CM added.
In a separate condolence message, the chief minister also mourned the demise of the chairman of Tenyiphe village, Holto Kin, this morning. Late Kin was the founding chairman of the village in 1968. “He was one of the pioneering personalities in the progress of his village and made significant contributions in the upliftment of the people who he served,” Rio said in the message. “He dedicated his life in the service of the people and always strived to improve the people’s welfare wherever possible.”
The chief minister said Kin was a close associate of Goulhoulie Rio, Rio’s father. “I also came in close contact with him over the years especially in our common cause of serving the public. I found him to be sincere and hardworking person who was always prepared to work for the greater interest of society,” the chief minister said.
In the demise of the chairman, the society, particularly the Angami community and citizens of Dimapur have lost a prominent and pioneering personality and the vacuum left by his passing away will be difficult to fill, the CM said.
“My wife and family members join me in expressing our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty God to give you solace and also to let his soul rest in peace,” the chief minister’s message added.
