The Rongmei Pui Phwam Kohima (RPPK) today celebrated its silver jubilee at NRDS Hall, Nagabazar, Kohima.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Katasinliu Remmei, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, encouraged the women to continue caring and supporting one another, emphasising that the spirit of mutual care forms the foundation of a growing and thriving society.
She also underscored the importance of guiding children towards quality education and encouraging them to upgrade their skills.
She urged parents to motivate their children to aspire to greater heights, pursue bigger goals and work effectively rather than remain confined to entry-level opportunities.
Joysi Rongmei, President, Rongmei Mothers’ Organisation Nagaland, stated that progress stems from the content of the heart.
She expressed her appreciation for the journey of RPPK, recalling its humble beginnings in 2001, when women mobilised resources and collected funds to assist those in need.
She encouraged the congregation to continue working collectively and in unity, stating that no organisation or union could progress without a shared commitment and a spirit of togetherness.
RPPK was formed on July 18, 2001, in response to the hardships faced by people affected by the ceasefire-related conflict following the Motor Peace Rally in Senapati, Manipur.
At the time, there was no established organisation or union representing the women of the Rongmei community. Recognising the need for a common platform, the women came together to form a union.
Since its inception, RPPK has continued to work towards the welfare and upliftment of women in the Rongmei community, marking 25 years of collective effort, service and solidarity.
The silver jubilee celebration featured traditional songs of praise and dances presented by RPPK members.
Losa Phimu Gangmei, Advisor, RPPK, delivered a brief history of the organisation, while Sarah Kamei, President, RPPK, delivered the welcome address.
The programme began with an invocation by Luchalu Kamei, Advisor, RPPK, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Lily Longmei, Secretary, RPPK, followed by the benediction by Gaisinmei Jennifer Ruangmei.
The programme was chaired by Chunjanglu Gracy, Media In-charge, RPPK.
