RPF apprehended 31 for theft on trains in 2021: NFR 

Maligaon, December 27 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway detected 27 cases related to theft of passengers’ belongings during January to November this year. A total of 31 persons were apprehended in this connection during different search and checks at stations and trains across the NFR zone, the NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Guneet Kaur informed on Monday.

According to a press release from Kaur, in an incident on December 23, as per information received from Security Control/Alipurduar Jn, a backpack which was left behind on a train was recovered by RPF staff of RPF Outpost/Falakata. RPF personnel found PAN Card, Aadhaar card, ATM card, Voter card, battery charger, some used clothes and a wallet containing cash Rs 2,010 from the said backpack and the items were handed over to the owner after proper verification, it said. 

In another incident on December 18 and 19, ASI/ PK Jha of RPF Post, Katihar (East) was conducting a check at Katihar railway station at the arrival of the train No. 15934 (New Tinsukia Express), when he noticed that one person alighted from a coach in a suspicious manner. The person, identified as Neeraj Kr Yadav (39 years), a resident of Kharaiya Basti in Bihar was detained and upon interrogation, it was revealed that the person was travelling without ticket. “On searching him, one mobile phone was found with him, but he could not give any satisfactory reply for the possession of the said mobile phone. Hence, he was apprehended and handed over to OC/GRP/Katihar for further necessary action,” the release stated.
