Recovers stolen passenger belongings worth Rs 13,23,885
Maligaon, October 3 (MExN): During the month of September 2023, a total of 82 persons involved in theft of passenger belongings were arrested by RPF with the recovery of stolen passenger belongings worth Rs 13,23,885 (approx).
Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR in a press release stated that Railway Protection Force (RPF), NF Railway always plays a dynamic role to provide full scale security to the rail users ranging from rescuing teenage boys and girls, arresting touts, recovering narcotics or left behind and stolen baggage.
The RPF while conducting regular checks and drives within the zone from September 17 to 28 apprehended 18 persons involved in theft of passenger’s belongings. During this check at different stations and trains, they recovered valuables worth approximately Rs 3,49,200 from railway stations at New Jalpaiguri, Lumding, Kishanganj, Dimapur, Jagiroad, New Bongaigaon, Barpeta Road, Hojai and Guwahati.
In an incident on September 25, RPF team of Hojai during a routine check at Hojai railway station, apprehended three persons and recovered six mobile phones worth Rs 76,800 approximately and cash Rs 5,400 stolen from passenger. The recovered items and the apprehended persons were handed over to Inspector in Charge of GRP/Hojai for further necessary proceedings.
On September 20, RPF team of Lumding during a routine check at Lumding railway station, apprehended one person and recovered a mobile phone worth Rs 23,000 approximately stolen from passenger. The recovered mobile phone and the apprehended person were handed over to Officer in Charge of GRP/Lumding for further necessary proceedings.
In an incident on September 17, RPF team of New Jalpaiguri jointly with GRP/New Jalpaiguri conducted a drive in train no. 15909 (Dibrugarh-Lalgarh) Avadh Assam Express at New Jalpaiguri railway station and apprehended one person with two mobile phones stolen from passenger worth Rs 20,000 approximately. The recovered mobile phones and the apprehended person was handed over to Officer in Charge of GRP/New Jalpaiguri for further necessary proceedings.
