Maligaon, January 17 (MExN): RPF (Railway Protection Force) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) detected as many as 66 cases of touting activities and apprehended 74 persons involved in illegal sale of Railway tickets during the year 2019. During this period, RPF personnel recovered 659 tickets worth more than Rs 11.5 lakh.
As per a press release from Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer, a team of RPF personnel of Guwahati with the help of local police conducted raid against illegal sale of Railway e-tickets in a travel agency named ‘3G Tours & Travel’ located at Paltan Bazar, Guwahati on November 29, 2019.
During the search, RPF recovered 9 E-tickets worth Rs 14,785.58 and apprehended one person involved in the illegal business of procuring and supplying of railway E-tickets.
On the same day, RPF/Dimapur conducted drive against touting activities at Dimapur PRS complex and apprehended one person with recovery of 3 Railway journey tickets from the accused.
Crime Prevention and Detection Squad team of RPF/Katihar conducted raid and decoy check in a shop near Asharaj Medical Hall, RP Path, Kathar (Bihar) on November 30, 2019. It recovered 14 E-reservation tickets worth Rs 22,239.
In this connection, two persons were apprehended for their involvement in the touting activities with recovery of two mobile phones and cash Rs. 4,520.
On December 6, 2019, RPF team of Dimapur conducted search against touting activities at a shop named ‘Das Tour & Travels’ located near Don Bosco Ward No 1, Sarupather, Dist- Golaghat (Assam) and apprehended one person with recovery of one E-ticket worth Rs 1,408.68, one laptop and a mobile phone.
In another incident, CIB (Crime Investigation Branch) of RPF/Rangiya conducted search in a shop located at Tangla, Assam with the help of Local Police and seized one future Tatkal ticket from the possession of the shop owner on December 25, 2019.`One Chiranjeeb Das, (36 year) of Village - Jalukbari, Assam was apprehended.
In another case, acting on information, one Vinod Pasad was arrested for unauthorized procuring and supplying of Railway tickets from PRS/Dimapur, Asst Sub on January 11. Inspector/Shiv Kr Sah along with officer and staff of CIB/Lumding conducted a drive and apprehended the defaulter from Dimapur railway station. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Dimapur under section 143 Railways Act, the release added.
