RPF-NFR honours freedom fighters

Guwahati, July 7 (MExN): Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was celebrated by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) at the premises of the Guwahati Railway Station on July 7. 

On the occasion, freedom fighters and their next of Assam were honoured and President, Asom State Freedom Fighters’ Association, Krishna Kanta Lahkar was also present at the celebration. 

As part of the celebration, the achievements and contributions of RPF/Lumding Division were appreciated for successfully carrying out various operations from apprehending persons involved in illegal activities to rescuing victims from human traffickers, an official release informed.

Besides, the Chief Guest and General Manager NFR, Anshul Gupta flagged off a video wall vehicle and a motor cycle rally, while a sapling plantation programme was also organised at the concourse of the Guwahati Railway Station, it said.

Pranav Kumar, Principal Chief Security Commissioner of RPF/NFR along with other dignitaries also attended the celebration. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75th years of Indian independence.
