Kohima, March 4 (MExN): Nagaland’s DGP Rupin Sharma recently graced the 18th sports meet 2024 of Sazolie College.
Gracing the meet as the special guest, Sharma, encouraged the students to maintain a healthy body to achieve a healthy mind. In sports, he said, one must have attributes such as a healthy body, competitiveness, learning to win and to accept loss graciously. He emphasized on the need to abstain from substance abuse such as alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
Further, he challenged the students to report if any of their loved ones are taking drugs and to help them by informing somebody who can intervene and take them away from this habit. He also stated that the police department is ready to help in giving lectures and various aspects of drugs so that the children are aware of the consequences.
A short programme was conducted at Vineizono Hall wherein Dr Gopal Chetri, principal, Sazolie College delivered welcome note. The sports meet concluded on March 1 at Jotsoma village ground.
It was marked by football, volleyball, basketball, futsal, Kho-kho, tunnel ball, track and field event, badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess, traditional games, arm wrestling and fitness activities.
