DIMAPUR, April 27 (MExN): The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) and Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE) jointly organized a one-day seminar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on Saturday at the SCHE conference hall.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness and provide knowledge on various aspects of intellectual property among the faculty members of both institutions.

Gihukali Chishi, Technical In-charge at the Patent Information Centre, Kohima, served as the resource person for the session. Offering practical insights, Chishi provided a comprehensive overview of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and geographical indications, underlining the growing importance of IPR in a knowledge-driven economy.

She highlighted the critical role of intellectual property in fostering innovation and protecting creative works. Through relevant examples and case studies, Chishi made the complex legal concepts accessible, elaborating on copyright protection for literary and artistic works and explaining the importance of geographical indications in preserving the identity of region-specific products.

The seminar fostered an interactive environment, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarifications. Chishi responded to the queries with practical advice and detailed explanations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Dr. Paul Punii, Principal of SCHE, who expressed appreciation to Chishi for her insightful presentation and to the IQAC teams of both colleges for organizing the seminar.
