Sensitization workshop on child trafficking held in Phek

Phek, March 20 (MExN): A sensitization workshop for police personnel on preventing and combating child trafficking was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Phek on March 19. The programme was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Phek.

Deputy Commissioner Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, in his keynote address stated that "child trafficking is the gravest violations of human rights" and urged all stakeholders, particularly law enforcement agencies and the Police Department, to effectively halt and discourage such activities.

Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (DLSA), Phek, Vethothi Vero spoke on human trafficking, while Retainer Lawyer Sekhotso spoke on the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

SDPO Phek, Khuza Jurry, delivered a short speech on the role of the police as a stakeholder department. The programme was chaired by District Child Welfare Programme Phek, Zapocho Tetseo, who also delivered the welcome address. The vote of thanks was proposed by EAC Phek, Imnasenla Walling.
