The Seven-Mountain Mandate

People taking part  in the prayer meeting  held at Senai Cafe, DC Court Junction, Dimapur . 'Seven Days of Prayer' has been organised from March 19 to 25 as a part of  'Heal Dimapur'.

Dimapur | March 23 : We have a lot of misconceptions about serving God. Christians today have elevated Church ministry above secular work and that is wrong because God never made a distinction between the sacred and the secular. In fact, the Hebrew word avodah is the root word having the same meaning from which both ‘work’ and ‘worship’ have been derived; the two are related.
Today, God has a strategy for transforming society and that is through the workplace or marketplace. There is a growing consciousness of God’s plan for His people in their workplace; a new awareness of God-given assignments outside of the church.
Each of us is unique. With a distinctive mix of abilities, gifts, and desires, God has a plan, an assignment for each of us that will put to use our individual gifts and desires. Some people are called to pulpit/church ministry but most of us are called to the marketplace. Fact is, 95% of the body of Christ are not employed by the church in “full time ministry”. We believe God wants to include the 95% in His plan to disciple nations through the marketplace.
We have incorrectly assumed that the role of the Christian vocational worker is more holy and committed than a person who is serving outside in a more secular environment. Yet, the call to the secular marketplace is as important as any other calling. Through the seven-mountain mandate, God is positioning His people in the seven mountains or spheres of life so that the Great Commission can be fulfilled.
As marketplace Christians we are meant to lead by being solution providers – bringing in results, finding answers to the problems of the world and challenging age-old paradigms.
Background:
In 1975, Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade, and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With A Mission, had lunch together in Colorado. God simultaneously gave each of them a message to give to the other. At around the same time, Francis Schaeffer was given a similar message. That message was that if we are to impact any nation for Jesus Christ, then we would have to affect the seven spheres, or mountains of society that are the pillars of any society. These seven mountains are Business, Government, Media, Arts and Entertainment, Education, the Family and Religion.
While church is the training ground, these seven mountains are where the battle is at. It is here that culture is won or lost. Each of us is called to one or more of these mountains to be the catalysts or change agents who will scale the mountains and influence culture with Christian values.
God wants to raise men and women to take their place as workplace Christians in the ‘seven mountains’ so that they are empowered to fulfil the Great Commission.  As part of the ‘Heal Dimapur’ vision, the ‘Seven Days of Prayer’ is being organised from 19-25 March – allocating one day to praying for one mountain.
Join us for the remaining day(s) at 4:00pm in Sinai Café, D.C. Court Junction. Our desire is to see breakthrough in each of these mountains and to see the culture of heaven invade these spheres; to see God’s will being done on earth as it is in heaven.
