NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer addresses the gathering during the Graduation Day 2026 programme held at the Yashipokla Memorial Hall in Chümoukedima on June 4.
Chümoukedima, June 4 (MExN): Mount Mary College, Chümoukedima, celebrated its Graduation Day 2026 on June 4, honouring the graduating batches of 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 at the Yashipokla Memorial Hall.
The ceremony brought together graduates, parents, faculty members, alumni and well-wishers to mark the students' academic achievements and future aspirations.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr C Teeya Imsong, Managing Director of Mount Mary College, expressed his delight at seeing alumni and former faculty members return for the occasion. Encouraging graduates to choose their associations wisely, he quoted Proverbs 13:20, saying, "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm."
Dr Imsong also highlighted several new initiatives undertaken by the college, including international collaborations with five universities in South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia and Ghana. He further spoke about the New Generation Service Exchange Programme and expanded "Earn While You Learn" opportunities aimed at enhancing students' academic and professional development.
The keynote address was delivered by Sharingain Longkumer, who congratulated the graduates on their perseverance, commitment and achievements.
Acknowledging the contributions of parents, guardians and teachers in shaping young lives, Longkumer encouraged the graduates to take pride in their accomplishments while preparing themselves for future challenges and opportunities.
Describing the graduates as future entrepreneurs, policymakers, artists, administrators and changemakers, he emphasised the importance of continuous learning, adaptability and life skills in an increasingly competitive world.
He urged the students to strengthen their employability, management and entrepreneurial skills, adding that true success should be measured not only by academic qualifications or professional achievements but also by the positive impact one makes on society.
The programme also featured batch addresses by representatives of the graduating classes, a faculty address by Deepika Das, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, musical performances, presentation of special awards and the formal declaration of graduates.
