Shikuto VC issues rejoinder to Jalukielo

Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): Apropos to news item that was published on September 5 under the caption ‘Jalukielo flays murder’, the Shikuto Village Council (SVC) has retaliated that the press statements made by Jalukielo Village Council (JVC), Peren were ‘unnecessary’. A rejoinder issued by Hoxuvi, chairman, Shikuto Village Council stated “JVC labeling Shikuto villagers as suspects without any proof of evidence is not okay. Jalukielo should not suspect us, just because our villages are nearby”.
The note also stated that Shikuto villagers do not advocate confrontation as a solution to any issue but believe in peaceful settlement. The chairman stated that Shikuto Village Council had passed a resolution in 2001, wherein any problems arising with neighboring villages, the village council would deal the issue peacefully.  “According to that rule we have been living and maintaining our lives. We have been upholding that rule,” the chairman said. In a civilized society, we should not allow murder, fights etc. This is the strong resolve of Shikuto villagers.
SVC also stated that it has condemned the act as soon as the news was heard. “We as a village authority are also worried when we hear of such crime committed to our neighboring villages and we urge the government authority to take swift and strict action,” SVC said.
“The authority should award punishment to the right perpetrator(s) of the act. Law enforcement agencies should trace out the culprits as soon as possible, before suspicions heighten,” SVC further stated.
