Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), Zuheboto has expressed disappointment over the deactivation of students’ bank account by State Bank of India (SBI), Zunheboto Branch, which claimed to have implemented banks’ policy.
In a note addressed to the Director of Higher Education, the SKK stated: “…it was your esteemed office order widely published in the local dailies directed the students to open bank account that can be procured with nil balance. Now, the problem is that, the said SBI branch had deactivated about 150 nil balance accounts of students. The students had to suffer for following your office’s order and direction at the hands of the said institution. The SKK would like to ask you the following. As to why the students have been directed to open the nil balance account? What was the instruction given by your office to the backs before students were directed to pen nil balance account? Why the SBI had deactivated the students nil account which was opened as per the government order?”
Concerning the issue, the SKK has appealed to Director to immediately take the issue with the concerned institution and direct it to reactivate the deactivated students account before the disbursement of scholarship failing which the SKK will take its own course of action.
