Chümoukedima, October 10 (MExN): A solidarity meeting with veteran Naga leader Dr SC Jamir has resolved to make the formal launching of the Western Ao Youth Front inclusive of Ao youth from the three districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland, while endorsing an early and honourable solution to the long-pending Naga political issue.

The meeting, held at Jamir’s farm house in Chümoukedima on October 9, brought together representatives of various Ao civil society and youth organisations from Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Medziphema, Diphupar, Foothill and Aoyim areas. It was organised by Ao Youth Organization, Chümoukedima.

The gathering endorsed the initiative spearheaded by the Naga Youth Movement, which seeks an early, honourable and acceptable solution to the Naga political issue that continues to affect the lives and aspirations of the Naga people, the organizers stated in a press release.

It also made a collective appeal to all stakeholders in the Naga peace process, and particularly to the Government of India, to facilitate a permanent, honourable and all-inclusive settlement of the Naga political issue at the earliest, ensuring lasting peace and stability for the people and the land.

The meeting unanimously expressed full support for the resolution adopted by Ao Senden regarding the retractions of statements made by VS Atem and RH Raising. Participants echoed the call of the Ao Senden leadership for all Naga leaders and the public to uphold discipline, fortitude, humility and wisdom in order to move forward in a spirit of unity and mutual respect. At the same time, the gathering resolved to remain vigilant and reserved the right to take appropriate action should circumstances require.

The joint resolution was adopted by Ao Senso Telongjem, Chümoukedima; Ao Senso Telongjem, Dimapur; Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation; Ao Youth Organization, Chümoukedima; Aoyim Youth Organisation; Diphupar Ao Youth Organisation; Foothill Ao Youth Organisation; and Medziphema Ao Youth Organisation.

The meeting concluded on a note of solidarity and renewed commitment to work together for the welfare of the Ao community and the pursuit of peace, unity and progress for the Naga people.
