Peren, May 20 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Peren, Hiazu Meru on Wednesday informed that the Election Commission of India has announced the conduct of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in a phased manner across 16 states and three Union Territories, including Nagaland.
According to the schedule notified by the Commission, the qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland will be October 1, 2026.
The revision exercise in the state will begin with preparation, training and printing from August 5 to August 14, followed by house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from August 16 to September 14.
Rationalisation of polling stations will be completed by September 14, while the draft electoral roll will be published on September 20.
The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from September 20 to October 20, while the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue till November 18.
The final electoral roll will be published on November 22, the official said.
Meru said the Special Intensive Revision is a participative exercise involving electors, political parties and election officials to ensure purity and accuracy of the electoral roll.
During the revision process, BLOs will conduct house-to-house verification and collect relevant electoral information, he said.
The deputy commissioner appealed to all eligible electors to extend full cooperation to the BLOs during the verification process and ensure that their electoral details are accurate and updated.
He also requested all recognised political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for each polling station to facilitate smooth conduct of the revision process with transparency and active participation.
