Stage set for 67th KVSA Meet 2026 in Kohima

The stage is set for commencement of the 67th Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) Meet 2026 from January 10 to 16 under the theme “Kevimerü” and The Great Indian Barbet as the mascot.

With Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) as host of the meet, the inaugural ceremony will take place on January 10 at 10:00 am at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).

Before the inaugural programme, the ceremonial torch lighting has been scheduled at Thevokemouzie at 9:45 am after which the torch will be carried by sportspersons to Khuochiezie.

The prelude programme will be led by KVYO vice president Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome and invocation prayer by Rev Vichülie Kelio, Pastor CRC KV.

Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, advisor, School Education & SCERT, Govt of Nagaland will be the chief host for the inaugural ceremony.

KVYO president Er. Medozhazo Rutsa will deliver presidential address while Kohima Village Head GB Medo-o Keretsü will pronounce traditional blessings.

Kohima Village Council (KVC) chairman Helievio Solo will also address the athletes.

The inaugural ceremony will be marked by march in of contingents, litting of the LXVII Cauldron, KVSA theme song and khel flag hoisting, veterans relay and oath taking.

The weeklong mega sports event will be marked by athletics, volleyball, basketball, football, cricket, badminton, table tennis, shooting and wrestling.

The meet will conducted at Khuochiezie, Kewhimia Indoor Stadium (Ziekezou), IG Stadium (Rüleizou), Kohima Indoor Stadium, Meriema Village Ground and Don Bosco Higher secondary ground.

KVYO flag bearers will includes; Sedevizo Keretsü, Keviser Dzüvichü, Viketouzo Belho, Khriekethotuo Mepfhüo, Kevicü Rutsa and Thinuoneikuo Sote.

KVSA flag bearers: Kezhalelie Keretsü, Neilhoukholie Kire, Meguokuolie Linyü, Kevisetuo Suokhrie, Neisavotuo Whuorie and Medozhatuo Rutsa.

Torch bearers: Vizopralie Dzüvichü, Ruokuosanuo Kire, Vizakietuo Suohu, Zelhouneinuo Rame, Khrielasakuo Keretsü, Menenuo Belho, Dziesevolie Rutsa, Menuolhou-ü Khruomo, Dziesengunuo Solo & Neiketoulie Belho and  Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü.

Jury Board: Competition Referee- Neilazetuo Khezhie. Ex-Officio Member-  Viliebeizo Liezietsu, Games & Sports Secretary KVYO, one representative-Nagaland Athletics Officials Club. Members- Er. Neisavotuo Sachü, Pezavituo George Vizo, Keneingu Rutsa and Dzieseneituo Belho.
