State action plan on climate change workshop today

Kohima, February 17 (MExN): The steering committee on climate change, Nagaland is organizing “Inception workshop on state action plan on climate chance” on February 18 at Administrative Training Institute, Kohima.
Climate change poses a risk to rich and varied natural resource of the state and threatens the livelihood of people. In view of this, the state government has taken initiatives to response to the challenges of climate change by developing adaptation and mitigation strategies and actions through the process of preparing the state action plan on climate change for the state.
The preparation of the state action plan on climate change would be in line with the requirement of National Action Plan on Climate Change.
To kick start the process of preparation of the action plan, an inception workshop will take place on February 18.
This one day workshop is being organized by the department of Forest, Ecology & Environment in association with GIZ and IRG Systems South Asia Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi and will have participants from various state departments/agencies and experts who will get an overview on climate changes issues, climate change and its impact in Nagaland/NE India and discuss adaptation and mitigation strategies and actions.
The workshop aims to initiate the process of developing the state action plan on climate change that will highlight the challenges and opportunities fueled by climate change in the key sectors of Nagaland and would suggest implementing appropriate adaptation and mitigation strategies and actions.
