Kohima, April 6 (MExN): The five days Intensive State-Level Volleyball Referee Course and Exam concluded on April 5 at Multi-Purpose Hall, Tsiesema under Kohima district.
The programme inked a significant milestone in the development of volleyball officiating in the state.
Organized by Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA) and hosted by the Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA), the event was joined by 41 candidates from seven districts of Kohima, Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Mon, Shamator and Phek.
The training program was meticulously crafted to improve the knowledge and skills of local referees, ensuring a high standard of officiating in upcoming volleyball tournaments.
Among the participants, Thejasetuo from Kohima District stood out, earning the title of best Trainee for his exceptional performance and understanding of the rules.
The course featured prominent resource persons, including Ramesh Babu Vidyarthi, a National Referee from the Volleyball Federation of India and Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, a FIVB Level-2 Coach and Deputy Director of Sports at Nagaland University, Lumami.
Both experts imparted valuable insights on the nuances of volleyball officiating, ensuring that the trainees were well-equipped for their roles as future referees.
The course culminated with an examination, where all candidates demonstrated their proficiency in the subject matter, marking a new chapter in the professionalization of volleyball officiating in Nagaland.
