State Library Kohima records rise in readership in 2025–26

The State Library, Kohima, under the Art and Culture Department, witnessed a notable increase in readership during 2025–2026, according to the Annual Administrative Report 2025–26.

A total of 386 new members were enrolled during the period, taking the cumulative number of registered members to 4,865, reflecting its growing relevance and outreach within the community.

The report was tabled during the 8th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

It stated that the library’s collection was further strengthened with the addition of 76 books received as gifts from philanthropic individuals, departmental publications, NGOs, and institutions. In addition, 103 books were supplied by the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), Kolkata.

With these additions, the total collection now stands at approximately 61,036 volumes, offering a diverse and comprehensive range of resources to readers.

The State Library, Kohima continues to function as a vibrant centre of knowledge and information, catering to all sections of society.

The report further stated that the library remains committed to providing access to information and educational resources, while preserving valuable publications and fostering a culture of reading.

Guided by the principle that the worth of a book lies in its use, the library strives to deliver meaningful and inclusive services to its readers.
