Students present research at Capital College of Higher Education academic discourse

DIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research Cell of Capital College of Higher Education hosted a Student Academic Discourse on March 28, aiming to foster independent research and analytical skills among students.

The college supported the initiative by offering financial assistance for fieldwork, reinforcing its commitment to research-oriented learning. Two students presented their independent studies during the discourse, which was moderated by Kurhungolu Ritse, a fourth-semester B.A. student.

Veluo Soho, a sixth-semester B.A. student, delivered the first presentation on Nhaku: A Traditional Practice and Dish of the Chakhesang Nagas, exploring the historical and cultural significance of the dish in contemporary discourse. The second speaker, Lasmi Rabha, also a sixth-semester B.A. student, presented The Bodo Kacharis in Nagaland: Culture, Identity, and Integration with the Nagas, examining the community’s cultural heritage, socio-political presence, and identity in the region.

Following the presentations, Dr. Rukulu Kezo, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, provided feedback, commending the students for their depth of research and analytical approach. She emphasized the importance of fieldwork, critical engagement with sources, and refining research methodologies.

The event offered both presenters and attendees a real-world academic experience, encouraging peer learning and engagement with research methodologies. Given its success, the college plans to organize similar academic discourses in the future to promote scholarly inquiry among students.
