The Health and Wellness Centre in Seyochung Village, Kiphire.
Seyochung, February 26 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) has highlighted several challenges facing the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) in Seyochung Village in Kiphire as noted during its visit on February 25.
According to the SVSU, during a discussion with the Community Health Officer, it was learned that a labour room and toilet extension, which were supposed to be completed, have not even started.
The shortage of medicines was also pointed out, with supplies from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office in Kiphire not being enough to meet the needs of the patients.
Patients from five neighbouring villages also depend on the HWC occasionally, and it is struggling to provide adequate medical care due to limited resources, the Union said. Further, the absence of a sweeper is affecting cleanliness and hygiene at the centre.
During the visit, a shortage of healthcare staff was also identified, with the lone Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) being insufficient for a large village like Seyochung. To ensure smooth functioning, the centre needs at least two ANMs, it noted.
SVSU President Longtili C Sangtam assured all possible support and made a representation to CMO Kiphire for appointment of an ANM at the HWC Seyochung at the earliest.
The union has expressed appreciation to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Seyochung HQ for the 'swift response and prompt action' in scheduling the 3rd Comprehensive Aadhaar Camp Mode Coverage Plan from March 10-13 for the citizens of Seyochung and Sitimi.
Earlier, the SVSU had urged the ADC to make necessary arrangement as students were facing difficulties while registering for the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) without Aadhaar cards.
