Guwahati, September 30 (MExN): ‘Swachhata Pakhwara’ - special cleanliness campaign of the Northeast Frontier Railway ended successfully today. The campaign from September 16-30 is a part of the ongoing “Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign from September 11 to October 2, an official release informed.
On the concluding day on September 30, Radhey Raman, Addl General Manager NFR’s Maligaon Railway HQ on highlighted brief details of the activities done during the period to media, informed the press release by Subhanan Chanda, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer.
Raman informed that said the drive started on September 11 with ‘Swachhata’ pledge administered to railway employees followed by a “Shramdaan” programme and a five-day Special Cleanliness drive in trains, stations, railway office premises, hospitals and residential colonies from September 11-15, it said.
Thereafter, “Swachhata Pakhwara” was started from September 16 with each day earmarked for specific target oriented activities, it added.
On the first day called Swachh Awareness day, more than 70000 participants throughout NFR participated. More than 12000 people participated at 300 locations also participated in Prabhat Pheris, to build up awareness while street plays highlighting dangers of single-use plastic were organized in more than 20 places.
On September 17-18, was observed as Swachh Samwad day involving general public, railway employees and their families with seminar on Sanitation and upkeep of stations involving Unions, NGOs, Scouts & Guides on five locations.
The next two days was observed as Swachh Stations day dedicated for intensive cleanliness at all railway stations of NFR, followed by ‘Swachch Railgaadi’ -intensive cleanliness in Trains on September 21-22.
While September 23 was observed as Swachch Parisar - dedicated for ensuring cleanliness at Work Place & Residential Premises, September 24 and 25 was observed as Swachh Ahar day or ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation units.
Intensive cleaning of 5 canteens and 6 Food Plazas, inspection of 299 food stalls and pantry cars in 112 trains were carried out while feedback of 1600 passengers on food and cleanliness were collected,” the release said.
The next two days saw campaign to ensure get clean potable water for passengers and employees via ‘Swachch Neer days.
Swachh Prasadhan on September 28 was dedicated for intensive cleanliness in toilets in trains and railway premises while September 29 was observed as the Swachh Competition day.
Meanwhile, the NFR release informed that it will also launch a special cleanliness drive October 2 along with vigorous campaign for “Non use of Single use plastic” to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
