Dimapur, July 25 (MExN): Team Boyhood were crowned champions of the Junkyard Senior Cup Season 3 after defeating defending champion in the football tournament organised by Nagaland Spotlight Connect. The tournament, which began on May 15 and concluded on July 24, featured six teams.
Organisers said the quality of football has improved with each edition, making the competition more competitive while promoting fitness, sportsmanship and community participation.
Defending champions Slim Fit FC finished runners-up.
In the individual awards, Mhabemo Murry of Team Boyhood was named Best Goalkeeper, while Along of Frenzy Shooters won the Golden Boot.
Menguse of Team Boyhood was adjudged the JSC Player of the Season. He was also presented with a bicycle by Major Ashish Gedion Paudel, SM, in recognition of his performance and to encourage fitness and healthy living through sport.
Nagaland Spotlight Connect thanked Shillong Lajong FC, Minerva Punjab FC, local businesses, sponsors and individual supporters for their contribution to the successful conduct of the tournament.
The organisers said more sporting events are planned in the coming months, with Junkyard Senior Cup Season 4 expected to be held later this year or early next year. An official announcement will be made in due course.
