The Union Government on February 5 signed an agreement with the Nagaland Government and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) for the formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) within the State.

The tripartite agreement was signed between the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland and the ENPO. 

Among others, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Home Secretary, Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio and State Government officials led by the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, and the ENPO leadership headed by its President were present at the signing.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio said the historic agreement is a testament to the State Government’s commitment to ensuring equitable and inclusive development, as well as its continued efforts to reach out to all parts and regions of the State.

He also assured his fullest cooperation and support in the collective aspiration to strive towards progress and development for every section of Naga society.

“All the Naga tribes join you in celebration, as this is not just an achievement of the eastern people, but a victory for the entire Naga society,” he added.

As per reports, Home Minister Shah said that the Centre will extend all help and fulfill all its responsibilities for the development of eastern Nagaland.
