Kamalghat, November 19 (MExN): The 15th Convocation of ICFAI University, Tripura was declared open by Chancellor of the University & former Chairman of University Grants Commission and Prof Dr VN Rajshekharan Pillai on November 19. A ceremonial parade was performed by Tripura Police Band with procession of degree awardees.
Dr Sanghamitra Bondyopadhyay, Director of Indian Statistical Institute-Kolkata, Indian Computer Scientist and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardee graced the convocation as chief guest. Tanmoy Chakrabarty, Group Government Affairs Officer, Tata Sons Private Ltd was the guest of honour.
Welcome address and annual report was presented by Vice Chancellor, Dr Biplab Halder. It is to be noted that due to pandemic, the convocation for 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic year was organized together.
During the 15th convocation, a total of 693 students were awarded degrees during the year 2019-20 out of which 30 students received gold Medal, 407 1rst class with 80 distinction, two students scored 10 out of 10 CGPA and 849 students have been awarded degrees during 2020-21 out of which 35 received Gold Medal, 490 1st class with 67 distinction. Altogether, at total of 1542 degrees awarded.
