Tseminyu District Badminton Tournament concludes

TSEMINYU, JULY 21 (MExN): The Tseminyu District Badminton Tournament was held at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Tseminyu, from July 17 to 18, organised by the Tseminyu District Badminton Association (TDBA) in collaboration with the District Administration and Sankalp-DHEW Tseminyu, Social Welfare Department.

The two-day tournament was graced by Gwaruno Khing, Managing Director, WEAFED and DPO Shamator, and Er Moamongba Longchari, Joint Secretary, Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA), as special guest and closing guest, respectively.

Addressing the players, both speakers stressed the importance of staying away from alcohol, drugs and other abusive substances that could adversely affect their careers and prospects as sportspersons.

They also encouraged the players to persevere despite failures and setbacks, reminding them that winning and losing are part of the game.

The programme was chaired by TDBA General Secretary Dr Lilongchem Thyug, while President Roben Messen delivered the welcome address. A Z Obed Magh, Senior Vice President, TDBA, proposed the vote of thanks.

Meanwhile, the TDBA also conducted a week-long coaching camp under the mentorship of Badminton Association of India (BAI)-certified coach Bentilo Kath, with 34 schoolchildren participating.

According to a DIPR report, the coaching camp is an annual initiative of the TDBA with a special focus on scouting and nurturing young badminton talent in the district.
