Dimapur, September 30 (MExN): In the continuing joint efforts of the Excise department and various other law enforcement forces and agencies, the duty party of the D ‘Coy’ 164th INF BN (H&H) Naga at around 11:00 pm on September 29 intercepted one maruti van bearing registration No. NL-07-C-1384 carrying a total of 1320 bottles of assorted IMFL/Beer at the road between Dhobi Nullah and Midland Dimapur.
In this connection two accused persons namely Sunil Kumar and Uttam Thapa were arrested and handed over to the office of the Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition along with the contraband liquor and the vehicle in presence of police personnel of East PS
Dimapur.
Basing on the report of the investigating officer, the accused persons were penalized as per the relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989 and the contraband items confiscated and deposited in the excise malkhana.
This was informed in a press release issued by Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur Pitongse Sangtam.
