Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): Two vigilant citizens of Dimapur apprehended a cadre of NSCN (IM), who had snatched money from two businesspersons in Darogajan today, February 19. The accused has been identified as ‘SS 2nd lieutenant’ Joel Poumai S/o Rapei Poumai from Thimba village, Senapati.
The Additional superintendent of Police, Dimapur in a press note stated that the accused was arrested when he was returning from Darogajan after the committing the deed with two other accomplices.
The note said: “As the miscreants fled in an autorickshaw, the victims called for help which was responded by two alert citizens who chased after the autorickshaw in their motorcycle and nabbed the miscreants from Zion Hospital area. The other accomplices managed to escape.”
The arrested accused was later handed over to the mobile patrol party and when he was searched, one 9mm pistol with live ammunition was recovered.
“Dimapur police salutes the two brave citizens for their commendable service and extends deep appreciation for their act in nabbing the accused and also solicits such cooperation and service from all concerned and responsible citizens in controlling crime in the city,” the note stated.
